It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph Correa Sr., a beloved figure in our community, who departed this world on July 3, 2025, at the Veteran's Hospital in West Haven, CT. Born in Bridgeport, CT on August 13, 1958, Raymond was a talented carpenter whose craftsmanship and creativity knew no bounds. His innovative spirit shone brightly through many projects, notably the piragua cart he built, complete with a uniquely designed stereo system that brought joy to all who enjoyed its treats.
Raymond was a deeply family-oriented man, thriving in the company of his loved ones. He is survived by his cherished son, Raymond J. Correa Jr., He was the proud brother to Naomi Doran, George Correa, and Myriam Roldan, and held a special bond with his brother-in-law, Benjamin Sierra Jr. Together, they formed a family united in love, support, and shared memories that will forever honor his legacy. He was pre-deceased by his parents Carmelo and Maria Dolores Correa.
In addition to his dedication to family, Raymond was a man of great passions. An avid sports enthusiast, he passionately cheered for the New York Mets, Knicks, and Giants, displaying the fervor of a true fan. His love of sports extended beyond mere fandom, as he was also a champion swimmer, showcasing his competitive spirit. Fishing was a beloved hobby, where he found both serenity and connection with nature, and his travels allowed him to explore many new horizons, reflecting his adventurous spirit.
Seaside Park held a special place in Raymond's heart, serving as a sanctuary where he found both peace and tranquility. It was there that he could unwind and connect with the beauty of the world around him, reminding us all of the importance of taking moments for ourselves amidst life’s hustle.
Raymond proudly served in the Army, exemplifying the qualities of service and dedication that defined his character. His commitment to family and country left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Raymond’s memory will be celebrated during visitation hours at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT, on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on July 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Following the viewings, a burial service will take place at Park Cemetery Association at 10:30 AM, honoring his life and contributions to the community.
As we reflect on Raymond’s life, we remember a man who was not only a craftsman and a soldier but most importantly, a loving father, son, and brother. He brought light and laughter to those around him and leaves behind a rich legacy filled with fond memories and lasting love. May he rest in peace.
