In Loving Memory of Rene Colon

Rene Colon, a deeply loved son, father, brother, grandfather of five, and proud member of the Bridgeport community, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on September 15, 1971, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Rene later made Bridgeport, Connecticut his home — a place he truly loved and where he left a lasting impression on so many.

Rene had a joyful, larger-than-life spirit that could light up any room. He was loving, outspoken, funny, and full of life. One of his greatest joys was cutting hair — something he did simply because he loved it and had a true gift for it. Whether helping family, friends, or those around him, Rene used his talent as a way to connect, share stories, and bring people together through laughter and conversation.

Rene loved expressing himself, from his sharp sense of style — always dressed with care and confidence — to his deep passion for sports. He proudly cheered for the Yankees, Patriots, and Giants, celebrating every win with enthusiasm. Music was always in his heart, and he could often be found singing, dancing, and filling gatherings with joy, laughter, and unforgettable energy.

Family was everything to Rene. He was a devoted and loving father to his daughters, Natali Colon and Mikayla Colon-Figueroa, and a proud grandfather to five grandchildren who brought him endless happiness. He was deeply loved by his mother, Ana Negron, and shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings: Pablo Jr., Carmen, Sandra, Rolando, Jose, Edgar, Noel, Omayra, and Pablo. Rene was also an incredible uncle who created special memories with his nieces and nephews — moments that will be cherished forever.

Rene was preceded in death by his beloved father, Pablo Colon, and his brother, Sammy Negron, whose memories he carried close to his heart. Those who knew Rene will remember his loyalty, generous heart, sense of humor, and the way he made people feel truly loved.

A memorial service celebrating Rene’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06608. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.
