Rosa Alvarado

Rosa Alvarado, age 78,  passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 23, 1945, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Rosa's warm and endearing personality touched the lives of all who knew her.  Rosa was known throughout her building for many reasons including the social gatherings, and her embracing persona created a sense of community for everyone. 

Rosa's giving nature extended to her love for cooking and hosting friends and family gatherings at her house. Her home was always open to all, embodying an open-door policy that welcomed everyone with warmth and love. Rosa enjoyed taking care of her plants which always flourished due to her natural green thumb. Whenever you were around Rosa, her next remark could be a great quick-witted humorous answer or comment.  There are so many memories and moments that we can share, those which today are some of the priceless treasures in our hearts and minds and all who knew her.  

Rosa is survived by her daughters Miriam Alvarado, Nancy Marquez (beloved son in-law John) and Nilsa Alvarado; grandchildren Jacely M. Marquez, John P. Marquez Jr., Ramon Delfi; great-grandchildren Ava Rene Arqueta and Jayden Delfi. Also a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. She will be sorely missed by all.  Rosa was preceded in death by her loving husband Antonio Alvarado, parents Miguel Rodriguez and Ines Ramos, as well as siblings Narciso Figueroa, Visna Figueroa, Cristina Alvarado , Virgilio Rodriguez, and Aurea E. Marrero. Thank you to all who cared for Mom. A special thank you to all of her good friends at Washington Heights Apartments. 

A visitation in memory of Rosa Alvarado will be held at Funeraria Luz De Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT on February 21st from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The final viewing will take place on  February 22nd from 10:00 AM to 10:45 PM. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agustine's Cathedral at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at 12:15 PM which is our approximate arrival time.
