Rosa Iris Valentín, 94, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away on April 24, 2026, at home.
Born on November 25, 1931, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Rosa later made her home in Bridgeport, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and simple joys. She worked as a factory worker in manufacturing and was known for her strong work ethic and quiet dedication.
Rosa was a woman of faith, raised in the Catholic tradition, and remained deeply connected to her family throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alvaro Ramirez and Paula Garcia, as well as her husband Ruben Valentin and siblings: Antonio Ramirez, Arcadia Ramirez, Damian Ramirez, Jacinto Ramirez, Nilda Echevarri, Miguel A. Ramirez, and son Ruben Valentin Jr.
She is survived by her sister Esther Caban and loving children: Oswaldo Valentín and wife Wilma, and Jose A. Valentin and wife Rosa Rosado. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Sandy Valentín, Jeana Crespo, Ruben E. Valentín, Jessica Quinones, Valerie Munoz, Jose A. Valentín Jr., and Natasha Reeves. And several great grandchildren.
Rosa found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed scratch-off tickets, watching game shows, working on word puzzles, tending to her parakeets, and spending time sitting by the window—always keeping an eye out to wave at family that would arrive for visits. She also had a fondness for Kentucky Fried Chicken, as well as milk cookies.
Family are invited to attend services as scheduled for Thursday April 30, 2026 6-8 pm at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608. Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by interment in the St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
