Rosario Gonzalez de Marante

December 16, 2019 — December 16, 2019

Rosario Esther Gonzalez de Marante, 76, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, has passed away into a peaceful rest on December 16, 2019 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, while surrounded by her loving family. Rosario was born in Matanzas, Cuba to the late Felix L. Gonzalez and the late Ramona M. Diaz. Soon after her birth, her family relocated to the capital Havana, Cuba where they resided for some time. Rosario was the middle child of five and became a vital part of the upbringing of her two younger siblings. She married her beloved husband Dagoberto Marante on January 6, 1962. Together they relocated to Fairfield, CT in 1969 where they resided at Dagobertos’ uncle’s home, who received them with open arms. After moving to the US, she focused her energy into working, whether it be as a babysitter or as a factory worker; she believed it was important to contribute towards the family income. She was passionate about the care and attention of her home and insisted in the cleanliness of it and at times, possibly to a fault. Regardless of whether she was raising her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, all knew her home was always maintained in an impeccable condition. Even though, her health started to decline five years ago making various physical tasks difficult to do, she never stopped being a loving and caring person while making sure everyone near her was okay. Being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was probably one of her most cherished things in life. She loved her children, grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren. When it came to her great-grandchildren she never ceased to mention how she just couldn't get enough of them. Her beloved, Dagoberto was the love of her life even after almost 60 years together, the love between them never stopped. Rosario was a precious and unique gem; one that always had others in her prayers and she had seen many of those prayers answered. She had learned early on in her life that her relationship with God was not to be denied and knowing the magnitude of His existence while believing that He always listens to everyone’s prayers. Not long ago, she was asked what other things in her life would she have appreciated in doing? She responded by saying, "I would of liked to become an interior decorator", which was not a total surprise since it was very obvious by those whom entered her home. Rosario's attention to details in the manner that she kept her home was clearly seen and appreciated. Rosario had a beautiful soul and a joyful spirit that will forever be missed by so many. It was a true honor and blessing to have shared time with Rosario while creating unique memories with such a wonderfully caring woman. It saddens many to know that day has arrived where Rosario will not be physically within our presence. However, it does bring her loved ones comfort to know that one day she will be reunited with them. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Felix Marante of Bridgeport, CT; her daughter Teresa and her husband Jaime Mercado of Stratford, CT; her grandchildren Melanie Rivera and her husband David Rivera, Rachel Mercado, Dexter Myles Mercado, & Dayana Marante; her great-grandchildren David Rivera Jr. and Madison Rivera; her siblings Efrain Gonzalez, Elisa Gonzalez and Elio Gonzalez. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by one brother, Enrique Gonzalez.
