Rosaura Serrano (Castro Garcia), of Bridgeport, Connecticut, formerly of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 74, on July 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on May 2, 1951, to the late Julio Castro and the late Juanita Garcia, Rosaura carried with her the heart of her Puerto Rican roots and a spirit that lit up every room. She was a woman of faith and devoted to her religion and she enjoyed going to church. Known lovingly as the life of the party, she loved dancing and singing, and she cherished spending time with her family. She was always the first to cheer on the victories and milestones of her loved ones.
Rosaura was a graduate of Warren Harding High School Class of 1970. Rosaura dedicated over 30 years of her life to the State of Connecticut, serving with compassion and grace. Beyond her career, she found joy in helping students thrive—offering her time and wisdom through tutoring and after-school programs. At home, she was a talented cook and a warm soul, she often found peace through sewing and crocheting, enjoying serene days surrounded by love and laughter.
Rosaura is predecesed by her parents, Julio Castro and Juanita Garcia, her brothers, Victor Castro, and Enrique Castro and her sister Jennie Castro. She is survived by her devoted husband, Carlos A. Serrano and her beloved daughter, Tania Serrano (Brooklyn), son Carlos Serrano Jr. both of Bridgeport, Connecticut and her beloved step son, Edgar Serrano (Annette) of Florida. She is also survived by her loving sister Virginia Rivera and her loving brothers, Robert Castro, Andres Castro, and Luis Castro.
Her love for her children was unmatched—they were the light of her eyes and the center of her world. There was nothing that she wouldn't do or sacrifice to make sure they were taken care of. She will be remembered as a phenomenal mother and wife. For anyone who knew her, knew she had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
