Sonia Aparecida Soares De Almeida Dias, who was graciously known as "Cida", age 59, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away on September 25, 2026. Born in Brazil, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim Soares De Almeida and Maria Eugenia Belli.

Sonia had a way of making room for others in her life and in her home. Her children remember a steady stream of people coming through their door because someone needed help and Sonia welcomed them in. Her compassion was more than a kind word; she acted on it. On one occasion, she cared for a person with a highly contagious respiratory disease and helped nurse them back to health.

She was often laughing, and her faith remained strong through life’s challenges. Sonia loved nature, especially fishing too. She dreamed of returning to Brazil and sitting beneath a mango tree to enjoy a freshly picked mango. It is a simple image her family will hold close: Sonia at peace in a place she loved.

She leaves her children, Laura Dias and Solomon Dias; her granddaughter, Stella Dias; and her siblings, Jaqueline Belzano and Sebastião Almeida. Sonia will be remembered for her open door, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
