Sonia Ortiz

Sonia Ortiz, 72, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on August 3, 2023, in the comfort of her home in Stratford, CT surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in New York to the late Raul Ponce and the late Alicia Tillero.  She is the beloved wife of Luis M. Ortiz who has been by her side over 50 years.

Sonia was the matriarch of her family who gathered everyone at her home, enticing them with delicious dishes that she lovingly prepared.  Although she cherished her family, she was firm in her parenting and made sure that everyone's presence was expected in her home.  She had a vibrant personality and had a great way of dealing with children.  She was known to be an impulsive shopper.  Sonia's physical absence will leave a big void in her family but her spirit will live on in all those who knew her.

In addition to her beloved husband Luis, her loving daughters Jasmine Ortiz and Stephanie Ortiz, 13 precious grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, her dear siblings Evelyn Gonzalez and Joey Laguna and a host of friends and relatives that will miss her dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
