Tomasa Santana, born on December 30, 1937, in Aguada, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in her home in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was a beloved figure, cherished by all who knew her and remembered for her strength, compassion, and dedication to her family.
Tomasa's greatest pride was her role as a loving mother to her nine children—Nelson Ramos, Mildred Ramos, Ivan Ramos, Maria Santos, Agnes Santana, Jackie Santana, and Elizabeth Santana. She devoted herself to nurturing her family, ensuring that her children grew up with love, support, and strong moral values. Her legacy as a mother extended to her 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply and lovingly guided.
Throughout her life, Tomasa found joy in her hobbies, particularly as an accomplished gardener. Her green thumb brought beauty not only to her own home but also to the hearts of those who encountered her vibrant gardens. An enthusiastic lover of food, lovingly prepared delightful dishes and delighted in going out to eat, often sharing meals with family and friends, creating lasting memories around the dining table. She was a seasoned traveler who was particularly fond of visiting the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
Tomasa was married for 40 years to her devoted husband, Natalio Santana. Their partnership was built on love and mutual respect, and they navigated the journey of life together with grace and joy. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Juanita Jimenez and Ignacia Jimenez, who, along with her immediate family, will forever hold her memory dear.
She was preceded in death by her parents Maria Benitez and Juan Jimenez and two sons, Edward Jimenez and Jaime Ramos, as well as her late husband of 30 years, Faustino Ramos. Though they are no longer with us, their spirits will continue to be honored through the stories and love shared by those who remain.
Services for Tomasa will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025. A viewing will take place from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. This will be followed by a burial at Mt. Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT starting at 11:30 AM.
