William Fernandez

William Fernandez , a beacon of wisdom and knowledge, was born on May 1, 1953, on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. He departed this world on June 5, 2025, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven through his profound contributions to education and his unwavering love for learning.

His journey through life was marked by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, establishing him as a well-known figure at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As a perpetual scholar, William was a natural educator who imparted his knowledge in all settings. His philosophical and inquisitive nature inspired those around him to seek greater understanding, challenging both himself and others to embrace curiosity.

William was a literary buff whose love for reading fueled his sharp intellect, and a historian whose insights illuminated the past. His enthusiasm for sports reflected a spirit of camaraderie, while his adeptness in mathematics showcased his analytical talents. William was a man of diverse interests, each pursuit serving to deepen his connection to the world around him.

In his personal life, William was a father to Billy Fernandez, Elizer Fernandez, and Michelle Cotto. His mother, Felicita Fernandez, survives him, carrying forward the legacy of love and nurturing that William exemplified throughout his life.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, countless nephews and nieces and a host of friends and fellow scholars.

Though his father, Arturo Fernandez , along with six siblings, has predeceased him, the spirit of familial love remains strong in the hearts of those who knew him. William's impact resonated deeply, and his philosophical mind will be missed by many.

As we gather to honor his life, a viewing will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Here we will remember a man whose life was a testament to the quest for knowledge and understanding, a spirit that will indeed live on in the hearts and minds of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. William Fernandez Resto leaves behind a legacy of inquiry, passion, and an everlasting commitment to education that continues to illuminate the paths of those he touched.
