Yolanda Ortiz
May 18, 1961 – July 10, 2026
Yolanda Ortiz, 65, of Waterbury, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest peacefully in her home on July 10, 2026, surrounded by the love that she so freely shared throughout her life.
Born on May 18, 1961, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Yolanda was the beloved daughter of the late Maximino Ortiz and the late Manuela Pizarro. Though life brought her from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico to Connecticut, at the early age of 3, she carried with her the warmth, strength, and love of her roots wherever she went.
To know Yolanda was to know joy. Her smile was genuine, her laughter contagious, and her heart always open to those around her. She had a remarkable ability to brighten a room simply by walking into it with the energy she brought with her. Her kindness was effortless, her generosity unwavering, and her loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Family was the center of Yolanda's world. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with those she loved. Whether gathered around the table sharing stories, celebrating life's milestones, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments were treasures she held close to her heart. Her greatest pride was seeing her family together, surrounded by love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Yolanda also found peace in the beauty of the beach. The calming sound of the waves, the warmth of the sun, and the endless horizon reflected the serenity she treasured. It was a place where she could simply be herself, at peace, a reminder that life's greatest blessings are often found in its simplest moments.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Michael "Mike" Soto of Waterbury, Connecticut; her loving siblings, Henry Ortiz and Milagros Ortiz; and her adored grandchildren, Anthony Concepcion, Yailyn Soto, and Yeila Soto, who were a constant source of pride and happiness in her life and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will dearly miss her.
Yolanda's legacy of unconditional love, unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and deep devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Yolanda's life during a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Final disposition will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Though our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in remembering the joy she shared so generously, the love she gave so freely, and the countless lives she touched. Her beautiful smile, gentle heart, and vibrant spirit will forever remain a cherished part of those who loved her.
"Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in every smile they inspired, every kindness they shared, and every heart they forever changed."
