Zaida Milagros Medina Vargas

Zaida Milagros Medina Vargas, a loving matriarch, passed away December 23, 2025, in Bridgeport, CT, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and generosity. Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico to a world that would come to appreciate her vibrant spirit, Zaida dedicated over a decade to sales work at Prime Resources, where her dedication and loyalty shone brightly.

Her personality, as bright as her smile, was characterized by a boundless love for her family and a unique creative flair. She took tremendous pride in her role as a mother and also grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. Whether shopping or simply spending time together, Zaida delighted in showering her loved ones with affection, always eager to ensure they felt valued and cherished.

Zaida had a passion for the arts; she loved to sing and dance, her heart always attuned to the rhythm of joy. She enjoyed having her hair styled, each visit to the salon being a small celebration of her vibrant life. A talented cook, Zaida captivated family and friends alike with her Puerto Rican cuisine, most notably her delicious arroz con guandulez and guineo and escaveche , which has become a cherished memory for those who gathered around her table. Zaida also made a big impact on the Rivera and Medina family who she loved dearly. 

She is survived by her beloved children: Shirley Rivera, Jennifer Rivera, Jessica Rivera, Hector Rivera, and Yashira Mendez, all of whom carry forward her spirit of love and dedication. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Joseph Guzman Rivera, Jefrey (Jordan), Kimberly, Anthony Candelario, Geovany, Desteny, Denzel, Leah, Jaycob, Anthony Arbelo, Mason, Mathew, Nova, and her great-granddaughter, Alylah. Each of them was a source of pride in her life, and the bonds she formed with them are treasures that will endure.

Zaida has been reunited with her parents, Bautista Medina and Carlina Vargas and most importantly her siblings whose love and values undoubtedly shaped the remarkable person she became.

A viewing to honor Zaida's life will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT.  Interment will follow immediately afterwards at Mt. Grove Easton Cemetery.   In this time of remembrance, her family invites all whose lives she touched to celebrate her remarkable journey and the love she shared with the world.
